Barbara Christian

Science

Barbara brings a rare combination of scientific expertise, educational innovation, and deep care for young people to HeartHaven Education.   With a career spanning environmental science, higher education, public service, and K–12 teaching, Barbara has spent decades helping learners make meaningful connections between the world around them and their own curiosity.

A geologist by training and an educator by calling, Barbara has taught students from middle school through university, including more than a decade teaching Earth Science and AP Environmental Science. She is also a College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Environmental Science consultant, where she supports educators across the country in developing engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Isabella Kritzer

Mathematics

Isabella brings a rare combination of intellectual curiosity, deep compassion, and a gift for meaningful human connection. With a background in biology, research, education, and human-centered advocacy, Isabella approaches teaching with both rigor and heart. She has designed and facilitated individualized learning experiences for diverse students, adapting instruction to meet each learner's unique goals, pace, and strengths. Prior to finding her way to teaching, Isabella conducted medical and public health research at leading institutions, coordinating complex projects, synthesizing findings, and contributing to scholarly publications. Her work as a client advocate further strengthened her ability to navigate complexity with empathy, and support individuals and families through challenging circumstances with wisdom and care.

What most distinguishes Isabella, however, is her ability to connect with people, especially adolescents and young adults.
